Cedar Point

The Sandusky Firelands Chapter of the Red Cross is holding an auction for the last 49 rides on Paddlewheel Excursions, which will be removed at the end of the season to make room for Dinosaurs Alive! next year. The last ride will be given on September 5, and CEO Dick Kinzel will pilot the last boat. If you are interested in one of the last rides on this historic attraction, visit this page.


Europa Park

Coasterfriends has another Mythos update, where wood is finally being put into place. Right now, they've been working in the tunnel, but the rest of the site seems to be ready for vertical construction. You can check out all of the photos here.


Happy Valley Wuhan

Vertical Horizons has some great photos of construction on the new Gravity Group racing/dueling woodie, best known for the "High Five" element. The ride is really coming along - lots of track is in place, and this looks like another insane ride. Be sure to check out all of the pictures, they're really impressive!


Knotts Berry Farm

Parc Asterix

Parc Asterix is making progress on its new B&M Invert, according to CoasterForce. Concrete for the station has been poured, and supports and track are now being placed. The ride has not yet been named, but it is expected to open in April. All pictures can be found here.




Sea World San Diego

Canada's Wonderland
CW Mania has a gallery up for "Project 2012." Current progress includes markings and dirt in the picnic area and employee parking lot. Check them out: bit.ly/mMrhth


Dania Beach Hurricane
According to Miami Today, Zoo Miami may be interested in relocating the Dania Beach Hurricane from  Boomers! to its own premises. The roller coaster closed several months ago after operating for eleven years. This could be really good for the Miami area, as they are lacking a good size park. According to the article, long term plans include a waterpark, hotel, theme park, and more. Be sure to read the full article.


Europa Park
Coasterfriends.de has some photos of the progress on Mythos. Right now it's just a lot of land clearing, but I'm sure we'll see more progress soon. If GCI's recent work is any indication, Mythos is going to look fantastic, especially with that Europa Park style...

Knotts Berry Farm
Screamscape has posted a very interesting rumor about a giga coaster for Knott's. It's a bit out there, but they're reporting a height of around 340 feet and a top speed of around 100 mph. This is very exciting, and I'll be following it closely in case anything else is uncovered. Until then, stay optimistic!


Six Flags Magic Mountain
As Green Lantern opened today, the Los Angeles Times has a report posted from the preview day yesterday. The coaster was received positively, with the article noting that the ride is not quite as intense as X2 but still thrilling. Until we find better footage, check out this test run video:

Thursday General News Update

In U.S. News:

Busch Gardens Tampa -

Cheetah Hunt has now moved onto testing the second launch, which leads into the tower section. RCPro has photos and a video here.

Hersheypark -

The local news has caught onto the RIT buzz, where they interview Lance Hart of Screamscape and other park officials. Additionally, blueprints with a potential layout have been posted to TPR. Right now, it's looking like an Intamin creation. Join the conversation over at Theme Park Review.

Sea World San Diego -

As workers continue to prepare for Manta in 2012, most of the site has now been cleared. Check it out over at Screamscape.

In International News:

Heide Park -

According to Screamscape, some of the theming that did not open with Krake may not be added for next year either. The elements included a tunnel themed as a wrecked ship and a "mouth" that the train would travel through. Screamscape reports that the items delivered, however, were deemed unsafe. Lets hope they take care of it.

Liseberg -

Liseberg's new Gyro Drop, Atmosfear, is now open! You can check out an opening-day reportd at CoasterForce.

Tokyo Disney Resort -

According to the OLC, Tokyo DisneySea will open on April 28, along with the new Fantasmic! show. The park will also return to its previous operating hours of 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Monday General News Update

In U.S. News:

Busch Gardens Tampa -

The first round of testing on Cheetah Hunt began last

weekend at the first launch. They plan to test each

launch individually with water dummies. Photos and

Hersheypark -

More preparations for the park's 2012 addition is

underway. The park is currently working around the

lagoon area. More photos at Keystone Thrills.

Kentucky Kingdom -

After being denied both a $50M bond and then a

$20Mbond by the state, Ed Hart plans to seek a

$17.5M bondfrom the city, which would benefit

the local government as well. More details at

Kings Dominion -

Intimidator 305 2.0 seems to be a hit, with no trim

brakes on the drop and reports of fewer trims on

the third airtime hill as well. Great trip report at

Sea World San Diego -

Preparations for Manta are flying along (pun

intended),as construction walls are going up

and the site is being cleared for construction.

Six Flags New England opened this past Saturday,

Heide Park's new Dive Machine, Krake, opened

for its Media Day was on Saturday. The ride looks

Hong Kong Disneyland -

Disney Rep. Tom Staggs has confirmed that Toy

Story Land is slated to open in Fall of 2011, Grizzly

Gulch in 2012, and Mystic Point by 2013.

Tokyo Disney Resort -

Tokyo Disneyland opened on Friday. See photos and
